According to a recent survey performed by the Thailand Department of Agricultural Extension, China has a significant preference for Thai fruit, with the majority of respondents selecting Thai fruit as their preferred import.
According to the report, which quizzed Chinese customers on their fruit preferences, Thai fruit is widely sought after due to its great quality and variety. Respondents praised the delicious flavor and aromatic perfume of mangoes, durians, longans, and lychees as among the top preferences.
This is great news for Thailand’s agriculture sector, as China is one of the country’s largest fresh fruit export customers. Thailand shipped about 1.2 million tonnes of fresh fruit to China in 2020, valued at approximately 29 billion baht.
“Thai fruit has a long history of quality, and this survey demonstrates that our efforts to promote our fruit internationally are paying off,” said Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on.
Thai fruit exports to China and other countries have been extensively promoted by the Thai government, with initiatives such as the “Thailand Trust Mark” program, which certifies Thai fruit goods for quality and safety.
Thailand’s fruit producers have a bright future as China’s fondness for Thai fruit grows. As the global demand for nutritious and tasty fruit grows, Thai farmers and producers are well-positioned to supply the need and succeed in the global market.
