METRO MANILA – Former national coach Chot Reyes lauded Kai Sotto’s decision to join the G League, calling it a ‘smart move’ as this will put him closer in realizing his dream to play in the NBA.

Reyes said that his decision is a good strategy for the young big man as he will not be in the NBA’s radar that will play a big part and improve his chances to get drafted.

He added that he’s not really worried about Kai as he possess all the skills for a basketball player and it will only going to get better as he hone his talents in G league.

Reyes was able to check out the youngster in his practice before the coronavirus pandemic hit the US and he was very impressed with the training regimen and enhancing his strength and physique.

Sotto is part of the blue-chip recruits in a G League select team that will pave the way for new prospect to go directly to the NBA. Other prospects includes Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix and Jonathan Kuminga. According to the former national team coach, Sotto’s NBA recruitment will also benefit the national basketball program as the country are looking for big man that will fill up our much need center position.
