Covid-19 tests now available at the comfort of your home

PUTRAJAYA  – Amid the Covid19 outbreak in the country, the Health Ministry in cooperation with private medical providers and hospitals, has launched a home-based sampling service.

In a press conference on ‘Uberisation: Home Sampling COVID-19’, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Health director-general, shared the news that the Ministry of Health has no barriers for those who want to get the test from partners private sector.

Anyone can now check for Covid-19 from home, without going to assigned public sector hospitals to test for sample. The new service is applicable to those who wish to have the infection tested but has not meet the criteria as a patient under investigation (PUI).

The Health director-general said the collaboration would help people with no symptoms to go through the Covid-19 test at home without having to visit a health facility.

He said that sampling is done for those identies as PUI; however, still some citizens are concerned and wanted to get tested. These are those that did not meet the PUI criteria.

At present, there are 11 private companies in partnership with MoH in providing Covid-19 home test sampling: Bookdoc, DoctorOnCall, Pantai Premier Pathology Sdn Bhd, Lablink (M) Sdn Bhd (KPJ), Qualitas Medical Group Sdn Bhd, Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur, Twin Tower Medical Centre KLCC, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Pantai Hospital Cheras, Pantai Hospital Klang and Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh, Melaka.

The list may be added from time to time as told by Dr Noor Hisham. He also said that the sampling service would be performed by trained private medical and paramedics, and the sample would be sent to a private laboratory for analysis.

He clarified that the sampling service in the house is subject to charges by the private sector. To access the service, one may upload the related application to check the time of visit for sampling or go the company’s website for more information.
