Glenn Maxwell announces his retirement from ODI format but is available for T20s!

The explosive batting and a versatile off-spin of Glenn Maxwell will be remembered for years and his thirteen years of association with Australian Cricket has left with a lot of unforgettable memories both in domestic and international matches, especially during the big matches like world cup. Glenn Maxwell has ensured that he will be available for T20s for his team Australia. 

Maxi’s recognition, support and popularity became maximum when he entered into one of the highly viewed and most celebrated T20 league tournaments of cricket in the world, which is “IPL”. Maxwell debuted into the ODI career in 2012 against Afghanistan and the final ODI match which he played against was India in March 2025.

  • One of the greatest innings in his career and in the ICC World Cup was against Afghanistan. He scored unbeaten 201* amidst the cramps and back spasms, who came into the crease when his team was at 91/7.
  • This knock was crucial for them to revert the momentum and win the trophy of that 2023 edition too.
  • In 2015, he registered a century against Sri Lanka (102 off 51 balls). It is the second-fastest century by an Australian.
  • Maxwell was one of the key players in the 2015 ICC World Cup Champion campaign.
  • He is majorly shown for scoop, reverse sweep and unorthodox shots of cricket which has inspired many modern day cricketers.
