Increasing fuel prices and commuting costs which often happens on a daily basis has become a huge burden to many government workers. To react to this, GSIS has already introduced a new loan program to enable transportation to be more affordable and sustainable. The program enables the members to switch from commuting to use of petrol to environmentally friendly modes such as e-bikes and bicycles.
This action is one step in a larger one to assist employees with managing expenses and helping to encourage greener mobility options. The program, with its relaxed financing as well as ease of application, is already drawing attention all over the Philippines.
In turn, The GSIS has unveiled The Ginhawa Bike and The E-Mobility Loan (GBEL) to help the government employees in acquiring bicycles and electric mobility devices. Members are also allowed to borrow up to 100% of the unit cost up to ₱300,000.
The interest rate of the loan is very low at about 5% per annum and the loan can be repaid in a maximum span of up to three years. The aim is to offer an affordable alternative to transport, which depends on the amount of fuel used, and assist members in saving money in the long-term, as well as reducing their carbon footprint.
The applicants should be active members of the GSIS and have paid the required premiums to be eligible to avail the loan. They are not supposed to be on unpaid leave and they should earn the net take-home pay required after making the necessary deductions.
The applicants are also to be expected to have a steady working history and no significant administrative or financial problems. These conditions guarantee that borrowers will be able to make repayments at a comfortable pace with no cases of financial burden or stress.
The process of applying to the GSIS e-bike loan should be easy and convenient. Digital or physical application methods can be selected as best suitable by the members.
1. Apply via the GSIS touch or via eGSISMO.
Use GSIS Touch mobile application or eGSISMO portal to log in to your account. In the section of loan application, select the e-bike or mobility loan option. Post the necessary documents, agree upon the same and send your application to be processed.
2. Relax with a GWAPS Kiosk.
Go to a GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System kiosk. Type and insert your UMID card, go through a process of being verified biometrically and follow on screen instructions to apply the loan.
3. Apply Over-the-Counter
Another way you can file an application is by visiting a GSIS office, filling out the application form and handing it directly to a loan officer to manually fill out the application form.
The applicants should submit a duly completed loan application form and a valid identification document. The GSIS UMID card must be presented in the form of a clear photo or in the case of nonavailability of the GSIS UMID card, two valid government IDs might be accepted.
Having clear and well formatted documents will ease the delays in processing. It is also important to keep file sizes under control when using online.

This would greatly save the cost of daily commuting by switching to an e-bike or bicycle. As the fuel prices continuously keep fluctuating, electric mobility is a more efficient and stable option.
The loan is also useful in promoting a healthier lifestyle and is environmentally friendly besides savings. The promotion of clean transport will mean that GSIS members will better equip themselves to face the modern commuting issues as well as increase the overall quality of life.
You can borrow up to ₱300,000 or up to 100% of the cost of the mobility device.
The loan excludes the use of other electric mobility vehicles like e-cars, e-drones, e-groggets, and so forth.
The amount of the loan can be paid in a maximum of three years, and done through monthly payments.
Yes, it is possible to apply online via the GSIS Touch app or eGSISMO, or via kiosks or GSIS offices.
There could be variation in approval time but online application could be processed much faster, compared to manual submissions.
