The latest update introduced by Xiaomi is HyperOS 3, which came with significant visual and performance improvements, yet the company presented a minimal number of features during the official release. Nevertheless, the initial adopters and power users have already found a list of hidden tools, improvements, and other system-level upgrades that make the OS much more powerful than it might appear.
These secret features cover better privacy settings and enhanced multitasking enhancements to new pro settings that are available to tech-illiterate users. Although Xiaomi remained silent on most of these additions, the undocumented features are rapidly gaining popularity among followers and are adding to the general user experience to a great extent, especially as Xiaomi 15 Ultra goes global and more users explore HyperOS 3 deeply.
Though Xiaomi mentioned overall speed benefits, HyperOS 3 has a number of under-the-hood improvements, which did not get any publicity. The most impressive one is the Adaptive RAM Compression Engine, a modest enhancement that automatically compresses the background activities to release memory without reducing the speed of running applications. This has seen improved multitasking amongst users on mid-range devices.
The other incidental enhancement is the Thermal Smart Balance, a system-level capability that dynamically reduces the workload of the CPUs depending on the activity of the user. Rather than reducing the performance when the system is hot, the system will reduce to a balanced mode, keeping responsiveness intact but avoiding overheating. It is a feature that gamers love most because it enhances the stability of the frames even when they are having a prolonged session.
The HyperOS 3 also incorporates an undocumented Network Prefetch System, which learns popular applications and preloads necessary content before applications are accessed, and reduces waiting time. All the background technologies combined will form a more responsive, fluid user experience, although very subtly.
In addition to performance, HyperOS 3 has remained quite secretive with its further adjustment of customization to suit users who prefer more control. The new Pro Layout Editor, in particular, enables users to flex more with the arrangement of system UI elements, which, again, Xiaomi never seemed to emphasize in its launch content. You are also able to personalize quick toggles, notification interaction, and system animations, and this comes with a certain degree of personalization that was not observed before in modded ROMs.
Another unforeseen feature is the hidden App Cloning Enhancer, which opens the possibility to clone more and more applications as well as use several instances with discrete data. This upgrade is particularly attractive to users who have more than one social, work, or playing account.
Security is also improved in HyperOS 3 in discreet ways. The Stealth Permission Monitor is a new feature that silently records whenever an app can access sensitive components (clipboard, camera, or location) with a specific permission. It is a silent feature operating quietly in the background and can be viewed in a special dashboard, which provides a better sense of clarity and control over their online presence.
The other undocumented yet highly regarded feature is the HyperCast, a redefined casting engine, which enables fast screen mirroring with lower latency. This is a welcome development for content creators, gamers, and those using it to be productive.
