Indian shuttlers enjoyed a stellar day at the Indonesia Masters 2026, delivering commanding performances at the iconic Istora Senayan in Jakarta. On a buzzing Thursday, January 22, both PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen booked their berths in the quarterfinals with decisive straight-game victories. The Indian contingent had nervous steel and tactical superiority during the Super 500 tournament. Although the loud crowd in the historical site can usually pave their way through the visitors, the Indian duo were at home and despite battling the Round of 16 matches with a certain amount of clinical precision they managed to keep the hopes of the country alive in the tournament.
The two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu demonstrated her enduring strength when she competed against Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt from Denmark. The 43-minute match ended with Sindhu winning 21-19 21-18 through her effective performance during important match segments. She achieved her fifth victory over the Dane through their six total matches. The victory sets up a high-stakes quarterfinal clash against the tournament’s top seed and long-time rival, Chen Yu Fei of China, promising a blockbuster Friday for badminton fans.
Lakshya Sen demonstrated his complete control over the men’s singles competition through his demonstration of fast movement and accurate shot-making. The young sensation needed just over half an hour to dismantle Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan with a scoreline of 21-10, 21-11. Sen executed his game plan successfully by dominating the net while he controlled the baseline to prevent his opponent from creating offensive chances. He now advances to face Thailand’s Panitchapon Teeraratasakul, looking to continue his formidable run and secure a podium finish.
