Malaysia’s ASL Sets Up Employment Advisory Unit with Appointment of New Partner

Adnan Sundra and Low (ASL), a law firm based in Malaysia has enhanced its service offering in the market by introducing a new employment advisory practice after a successful appointment of a law firm veteran Rohan Arasoo Jeyabalah as an equity partner. Jeyabalah comes with a long background in employment law, industrial relations, construction disputes and commercial litigation, which is a positive indication of ASC strategic plans to expand its knowledge and skill base to meet the needs of an ever-growing client base. His entry not only increases the capacity of the firm in settling workplace, contractual, and sector specific disputes, but also goes in line with the aim of ASL in establishing itself as a progressive leader in the changing legal landscape in Malaysia.

ASL Expands Its Legal Portfolio with Strategic Leadership Appointment

Malaysian giant Adnan Sundra and Low (ASL) has declared the single biggest expansion in which they have hired an employment consultant Rohan Arasoo Jeyabalah as an equity partner. Jeyabalah is a former ASL partner who has been with Harold and Lam Partnership since a decade and will be the head of the new practice of the company which specializes in employment law and litigation. This initiative is also a big stride in the overall direction of ASK to enhance its multidisciplinary services and respond to the increasing complexity of work and regulatory issues in Malaysia.

Expertise Across Employment, Industrial Relations, and Construction Disputes

Jeyabalah is a person with a profound background in employment and industrial relations who has represented clients to all tiers of the Malaysian court, even to the Industrial Court. He has been known to handle cases that deal with unfair dismissal, misconduct at the workplace, compliance, and the conflict resolution between employees and employers. Besides that, he has a long history of experience in construction and engineering disputes, which makes him a valuable part of the increasingly prominent disputes division of ASC, alongside practice head Kevin Prakash.

A Strong Track Record in Litigation and Advisory Roles

In addition to the field of employment and construction law, Jeyabalah also practices in the field of civil litigation and commercial litigation that involves aspects like breach of contracts, bank cases, land cases, and corporation cases. His consulting experience consists of writing and reviewing employment agreements, construction agreements, and compliance systems, which are competencies that will help business clients to need preventive and proactive legal advice.

His academic qualifications consist of fellowship in the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution, in which he is also a panel of arbitrators. Also, he has been accredited as an adjudicator under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 of Malaysia (CIPAA) and is also a member of the adjudicator panel of the Asian International Arbitration Centre.

Strengthened Capabilities and Forward-Looking Growth

ASL mentioned Jeyabalah’s appointment as a renewal of its determination to provide holistic solutions in the new and sophisticated areas of the law. His inclusion brings the total number of partners to ASL to 38, which is a positive development based on the company vision of continuing to be one of the leading firms in the Malaysian legal environment. The introduction of the employment advisory practice demonstrates the sensitivity of ASL to a changing regulatory environment, new workplace relationships, and growing demand of specialised dispute resolution services.
