After 25 years, The Pokémon Company announced in December that the Ash Ketchum-led anime series will conclude. The firm also said that following the character’s departure, two new characters will be introduced to continue the brand.
Now, just a few months after the announcement, the entertainment firm has revealed additional information about the forthcoming anime series. The new series is titled Pokémon Horizons: The Series and will include two new characters: Liko, a girl from the Paldean region, and Roy, a guy from the Kanto region. It premiered in Japan only a few hours after the final episodes of the Ash-led Pokémon anime.
Roy is coupled with a Fuecoco while Liko is joined by a Sprigatito.
According to the video, the new anime will have a different tone than its predecessor. And while being less than a minute long, it provides insight into some of the series’ earliest episodes. It depicts Liko experiencing her first Pokémon battle after much persuasion and overcoming her concerns. It also hints at a secret associated with her crystal jewelry, which appears to have some connection to a wild Rayquaza.
According to a press post published on the company’s website, the show’s synopsis reads, “Pokémon Horizons: The Series delivers fans an exciting adventure with new characters set in the familiar and engaging Pokémon universe. Both Liko and Roy hold enigmatic objects—a pendant and a Poké Ball with an unusual appearance, respectively—but for Liko to discover their significance, he must take the initiative. Liko and Roy meet Friede, Captain Pikachu, and Amethio along the route.
The Pokémon Company and Netflix are developing a Pokémon stop-motion animated series dubbed Pokémon Concierge. The initiative will capture the inner workings of a Pokémon resort, however the two media businesses did not disclose many details. Also, the Pokémon Sleep app that was initially revealed by the business in 2019 is finally complete and will be released this summer.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, a two-part expansion for players of the current Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, was announced last month.
On Friday, April 14, Pokémon Horizons: The Series will premiere in Japan. Despite the fact that the series will launch in additional regions later this year, The Pokémon Company has yet to announce the exact dates.
