Rihanna made her triumphant return to the stage on Sunday, soaring high above the Super Bowl field, dazzling the crowd with a fast-paced medley of her favorites, and announcing her second pregnancy.
Rihanna launched the greatest showcase in music by performing “Bitch Better Have My Money” while standing on a platform suspended in the air while wearing a bright pink jumpsuit and oversized coat. She was progressively lowered to the ground while she performed popular songs such as “Only Girl (In the World)” and “Rude Boy.”
Throughout the 13-minute performance, Rihanna was surrounded by hundreds of dancers dressed in loose white clothing.
It was the Grammy winner’s first appearance on stage in five years. Anti, her most recent album, was released in 2016.
Rihanna’s look prompted social media users to assume that she is pregnant. According to The Hollywood Reporter and other media publications, Rihanna’s spokesperson confirmed the singer’s pregnancy.
In May of 2022, the singer gave birth to her first child, a son, with rapper A$AP Rocky.
She completed her Super Bowl performance with “Diamonds” as pyrotechnics illuminated the stadium sky.
Rihanna joined Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Prince, Madonna, and the Rolling Stones on the roster of musical giants who have played at the Super Bowl. The broadcast attracts around 100 million viewers in the United States alone on average.
During the pre-game ceremony, country musician Chris Stapleton sang the national anthem in English, while Oscar-winning CODA actor Troy Kotsur interpreted it in American Sign Language.
Accompanied by a choir, Sheryl Lee Ralph, winner of an Emmy for her role on Abbott Elementary, sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” a song that has become recognized as the Black national anthem.
