Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has issued Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 7 of 2020 on Friday (3/13/2020) which calls on each regional government area to form a Task Force for the acceleration of handling Covid-19 (coronavirus).

Quoting the Presidential Decree Article 11 paragraph (1), “Governors and Regents / Mayors form the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Regional Management based on the considerations and recommendations of the Chairperson of the Implementing Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling”.

The Chairperson of the Task Force appointed by Jokowi is Doni Monardo who also serves as the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) since 9 January 2019.

The formation of task forces in each region is regulated in a Presidential Decree to follow the direction of the Chairperson of the Task Force at the central level.

“The handling of COVID-19 in the regions is carried out with due regard to the direction of the Chief Executive of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19,” reads Keppres Article 11 paragraph (2).

As reported, until Friday (3/13) afternoon, the number of positive cases of Corona in Indonesia has reached 69 cases. Achmad Yurianto as Government Spokesperson related to Covid-19 also announced that five people were declared cured and four died.

The formation of task forces in each of these regions has the task of establishing and implementing operational plans to accelerate the handling of Covid-19; coordinate and control the implementation of the acceleration handling of Covid-19.

Then supervise the implementation of the acceleration of handling Covid-19; mobilize resources for the implementation of the acceleration handling of Covid-19; and report the implementation of the acceleration of handling of Covid-19 to the President and Director.
