Three Weather Systems to Bring Rains Across the Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration PAGASA reported that rains will be delivered by three weather systems in many parts of the country. The systems are the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), easterlies and the northeast monsoon or Amihan.

The ITCZ presently influencing southern Mindanao is anticipated to deliver scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). These residents must prepare themselves for impending flash floods and landslides from moderate to heavy rain.

At the same time, the easterlies will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Romblon and Palawan. PAGASA advises that heavy rains may be experienced in these regions, raising the threat of localized flooding.

In Northern Luzon, the northeast monsoon will bring scattered light rains in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley. Although these rains are not intense, they can still lead to cloudy skies and cooler temperatures.

Metro Manila and the rest of the nation will have scattered rain showers or thunderstorms because of the effect of the easterlies. Moderate winds and moderate sea conditions prevail in coastal regions in the eastern portion, with the rest of the country having light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA also reported that up to 2 a.m. Monday, no low pressure area had been spotted for potential tropical cyclone development. Nevertheless, residents are urged to remain informed on weather warnings.
