Top Universities in Indonesia 2025 – UNIRANKS Rankings and Highlights

The situation in the higher education of Indonesia remains quite strong in terms of the UNIRANKS 2025 global rankings, as 970 confirmed universities were listed as excelling in academics, innovations, and globalization. Among them 74 are considered to be ranked as Top by Country, 59 are ranked as Top by Region and two institutions received the coveted Elite University status. They are the indicators of the increasing role of Indonesia in the academic life of Asia and the commitment of local institutions to research and technology education as well as quality education.

The University of Indonesia (UI) is on the top of the list, being ranked in the world at positions 436 and a score of 85.21, which made it once again the academic leader of the country. In addition, other leading universities such as Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University and IPB University are also placing strategically in the 2025 ranking, indicating the variety of academic capabilities in Indonesia.
