UAE Strengthens Global Ties: Crown Prince Leads Delegation to APEC Forum in South Korea

As an important initiative to strengthen international relationships and to strengthen global economic cooperation, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the Republic of Abu Dhabi, will be the representative of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in the Republic of Korea. Another step to the active involvement of the UAE in the world arena is the event that will be held in Gyeongju during the days of October 31 and November 1, 2025. The presence of the Crown Prince on behalf of the President his Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a testament to the emerging prominence of the UAE in regional and global economic discussions.

UAE’s Role as Guest of Honour at APEC 2025

The fact that UAE was invited as a guest of honour in the APEC forum by His Excellency Lee Jae-myung, the President of the Republic of Korea, is a sign of the growing global linkages and interest of the country in enhancing economic diplomacy.

The UAE delegation working at the forum is expected to support international trade, sustainable economic development, and cooperation with the APEC member economies based on innovation. The involvement will be aimed at promoting cross-border investment, promoting digital transformation, and dealing with the issues established to emerging economies in a changing global environment.

Key areas that have been brought out in the APEC 2025 discussions include green energy transition, integrating technology, and sustainable supply chain development, in which the UAE has made itself a progressive leader. Within the greater context of its approach, the UAE also remains a champion of global cooperation in such areas as economic diversification, environmental sustainability, and inclusive growth, which are the values that the APEC was established on.

APEC: Fostering Regional Prosperity and Cooperation

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an important regional platform that was founded in 1989 to bring together 21 member economies as they share a common vision of sustainable and inclusive prosperity. The forum is important in the improvement of regional economic integration, open trading and the minimization of cross border barriers to goods, services, and investments.

The APEC plans are meant to ease trade and make it efficient- by simplifying the process of customs, enhancing business conditions, and harmonizing the regulation between the economies. As an example, the standardisation of products across members of the APEC means that businesses would find it easier and with reduced costs to export goods and increase competitiveness in the region.

The UAE participation in APEC indicates its strategic purpose to identify with the economies of Asia-Pacific especially in areas like renewable energy, high-level manufacturing, logistics, and online innovation. The UAE being a connector between the Middle East and Asia indicates its commitment to ensuring the growth, economic integration and long term development of the continents.
