The renewal talks between TWICE and JYP Entertainment have been one of the largest topics this year within the hearts of Korean pop fans. After wrapping up the band’s record-breaking “This Is For” World Tour, the group revealed that they would be taking their time away from full group album promotion the rest of the year.
The members had come through a difficult touring season, which fans were delighted to see come to an end for a while, but members had also been given the opportunity to ruminate on their future contracts.
In recent media reports in South Korea, the single-drop change has mentioned mostly, if not exclusively, about Tzuyu and Jeongyeon, prompting many ONCEs to think about how this could impact TWICE’s future. Below, all the latest news about the contract negotiated.
Why TWICE’s 2026 Contract Renewal Is Making Headlines?
In 2022, TWICE received better news from JYP Entertainment as all nine members decided to keep their contract with JYP after their initial contracts expired. Four years later, the group is once again at the start of another renewal period, and comes with a lot of interest from fans and entertainment analysts alike.
Several members have multiplied their own careers in solo music, acting, endorsements and variety shows not quite the same as prior years. Therefore, it could be concluded that there is a possibility for some of the group members to pick a different management agency without having to stop promoting with TWICE.
Tzuyu Is at the Center of the Latest Rumors
The most significant rumour around the renewal process is of the Taiwanese member of the group, Tzuyu. It is said that Tzuyu is on the verge of exiting her exclusive contract with the South Korea-based agency JYP Entertainment, and is likely to take this decision after having been a member of JYP for over 11 years.
Even if Tzuyu is departing JYP as her management agency, the reports say that she would still be actively involved in TWICE’s future endeavors. The format would resemble that of other groups that are successful in the K-pop industry with their respective agents signing them and still promoting as a group under separate contract.
What did JYP Entertainment say?
JYP Entertainment did not comment on the reports, but had a quick message. TWICE is currently in the contract renewal discussion period, but the agency will give official recommendations once negotiations are finished, it said.
The response did not substantiate rumors of Tzuyu leaving, or invalidate it, but instead suggested that there’s on-going discussion about it. However, neither has it been officially announced yet that Tzuyu will be up for a contract or not.
Jeongyeon’s Meeting With Baro Entertainment
Jeongyeon is another who has been involved with the circulations relating to the contract. Though attacks by rumors were not anticipated, reports came in that she met with those of Baro Entertainment, an agency that manages actors, and one that has agreed to work with her older sister, Gong Seung-yeon, the actress.
During the meeting, it immediately sparked speculations that Jeongyeon may be seeking new management prospects at the same time working towards a larger scale as an actor.
But Baro Entertainment indicated, however, that the meeting did occur, but there was no “sealed” contract already signed or finalized. Additionally, JYP reiterated that the talks on all renewals with all members of the TWICE are ongoing.
Does This Mean TWICE Is Disbanding?
There has been no indication yet that TWICE is planning a disband. Indeed, a number of industry reports keep stressing that all nine members are still dedicated to the future of the group.
While others may eventually seek out alternative agencies to better cater to their individual music and acting/promotional careers, they are still expected to perform in future TWICE albums, concerts and world tours together, under management contracts.
This kind of arrangement is becoming more prevalent in the K-pop world to allow the artists more flexibility and maintain successful group projects.

What Fans Can Expect Next?
JYP Entertainment fans will have to wait and see before making any assumptions. But, if you’re in a K-pop band, they will take time to discuss the contract, which is the case if several members are planning their individual careers rather than group careers.
But, with TWICE being on a promotional break after an insanely successful world tour, the agency can make sure to make the most of their discussion to announce the group’s next installment.
