After a year of preparation, the official ticketing process has begun for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, and the sale will open on August 27, 2026, one year prior to the World Cup’s start. Games in this competition will be held at four venues within a single metropolitan area in Doha, Qatar on 27th-31st August, 2027 and will feature a total of 92 games.
This is a very convenient format for traveling fans, since they can keep their eye on several games and avoid traveling between cities.
FIBA World Cup 2027 Early Bird Ticket Discount
For the first time, during the first 72 hours, FIBA introduced a 20% Early Bird Discount for selected multi-match tickets to ensure a wider distribution of tickets. This allows the fans to get a head start on securing matches for the tournament before the final line-up.
Single-game tickets will also be released later and single match tickets will be sold in spring 2027 after the official draw in March.
What Ticket Passes Are Available?
FIBA’s first sales phase offers three main multi-match packages. The Lusail Series Pass offers admission to all 32 games taking place at Lusail Sports Arena along with the opening game, a series of group stage games and a full pass to the later phase of the competition all the way to the World Cup final.
The Final Phase Pass is intended specifically for those who like to watch the championship play. It features the quarterfinal, semi-final, third-place and final knockout games.
The Follow My Team (FMT) Pass is for viewing the 5 games in a country’s group-stage match play. Qualified teams that have not got a pass for Qatar will become eligible to buy their passes as the consignment is allocated.
FIBA World Cup Seating Categories
Three seating arrangements are used in the tournament. Category 1 is the highest seating, which will have the best front row and court views.
Category 2 includes a middle space, typically corners areas and select lower rows of upper floors. It is designed for more sight-line and affordable consumers.
Category 3 will be the value option, usually higher in the arenas. It is especially ideal for family members or budget-conscious spectators that wish to see multiple games without spending a fortune.
Doha’s Four World Cup Venues
Lusail Sports Arena, which will have a capacity of 15,227, will be the venue for the opening game, key group stage games and the entire final phase. The Al Janoub Arena and Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena each have capacities of around 8,600.
The smaller Duhail Arena is more intimate with court-level seating, and has about 5,500 seats. The locations of the four venues are all within the same metroplex, so cumulative convention is possible, meaning fans can plan multiple game trips in the same metroplex.
How FIBA Digital Tickets Work?
The new digitized, paperless ticketing system has been introduced on FIFA’s website. Fans will buy their tickets on the official ticketing site and get their tickets in the FIBA mobile app.
All payments are conducted in the Qatari Riyal and the major cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay can be used. The fans need to show their vibrant QR code at the event. Tickets or screenshots are not accepted (print is required).
Ticket Transfer Through the App
The mobile system also enables pass holders to pass ad-hoc tickets between friends and family. The recipient should also have an email address in their account to accept the tickets which are assigned in the app.
The digitalization is designed to enhance security of entry and ticket transfers, and minimize the likelihood of counterfeit tickets and ticket re-sale.
