Perak Flood Relief Centers (PPS) List: Locations, Emergency Hotlines, and Evacuation Protocol

Heavy rainfall and flooding in Malaysia’s Perak state have forced residents to seek temporary shelter. According to October 19 reports, Perak Flood Relief Centres were accommodating approximately 115 people from 36 families. Authorities continue monitoring affected areas while encouraging residents to follow official evacuation instructions and remain alert to changing weather conditions.

Perak Flood Relief Centers: Active PPS Locations

There were two temporary evacuation centres reported in the Larut, Matang and Selama district, namely SK Matang Gelugor and SK Matang. Previously activated shelters included SK Changkat Ibol, Dewan Masjid Al-Wusta Batu 8 and Dewan Perdana Trong, which were closed. The availability of the residents should be confirmed by checking the JKM InfoBencana portal. 

Perak Flood Emergency Hotlines and Official Alerts

Residents experiencing immediate danger should call 999, Malaysia’s national emergency number. The Malaysian Civil Defence Force also provides assistance through 991. For verified flood updates, residents can visit the Public InfoBanjir portal or follow announcements from the National Disaster Management Agency.

Flood Evacuation Protocol: Essential Safety Measures

Families should make identification papers, prescription medications, drinking water, clothing and emergency contact information. Do not drive through flood water, unplug the power when it is safe, and help your at-risk loved ones. Follow directions of rescue personnel, register at provided PPS facilities and do not leave until told it is safe to return home by authorities. 

Perak Flood Situation and Government Response

Local Disaster authorities plan and organize temporary shelters, emergency assistance and evacuation for affected communities. Flood conditions can develop rapidly and warning is critical. Improved drainage networks, evacuation notices and community readiness can minimize disruption in the event of a future flood, especially for residents of floodplains.
