A New Advocacy for Department of Agriculture

Philippines – The senators unexpectedly shared their point of view as they reminded authorities of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for advocating the importation of 60,000 metric huge loads of fish to the impairment of the business of anglers in the country.

Cynthia Villar, director of the Senate panel on horticulture and food, helped DA and BFAR authorities to remember her proposals that rather than importation, they ought to simply have suspended the shut season or the period during which the taking of determined fishery species by a predetermined fishing gear is restricted in a predefined region or regions in the Philippine waters.
