Aljur Abrenica admits cheating on ex-wife Kylie Padilla

Aljur Abrenica acknowledged, after months of suspicion, that one of the reasons his marriage to Kylie Padilla ended was because he had cheated on her.

The actor discussed his relationship in an episode of Toni Talks that aired on Sunday, April 2. Toni Gonzaga addressed Aljur directly about the infidelity claims that surrounded their breakup, and the actor responded in the affirmative.

“Totoo naman iyon. As for me, oo. In-aadmit ko iyon, may pagkakamali ako,” he remarked. (That’s correct. On my part, it’s true. I acknowledge that I have flaws.)

Aljur and Kylie have been intermittently dating since 2011, and they wed in 2018. They have two children.

In February 2021, Kylie shared a series of cryptic Instagram stories hinting she was once again single, sparking rumors of their separation. Their separation was confirmed in July, first by Robin and then by Kylie, who stated that she and Aljur were “working towards a healthy co-parenting partnership” for their sons.

In October 2021, Aljur unleashed a rant and demanded that Kylie “speak the truth” about “who cheated first” and who “destroyed” their family. Kylie said that she had never committed adultery during their relationship.

Aljur stated in the interview that his “greatest error” in their relationship was not spending enough time with Kylie and their two children. “Hindi ako nagkaroon ng time sa kanila, nung nagkaroon ako ng takot to provide. Nawalan ako ng oras,” he remarked. (I lacked time for them, especially as I felt I would not be able to provide for them. I wasted time with them.)

While he highlighted that he and Kylie had attempted to preserve their marriage, he had reached the conclusion that the union was no longer viable. Aljur also explained that the split was amicable and that he still loves Kylie. Yet, he emphasized that they are now better off as co-parents.

Aljur stated that he is not a perfect parent when asked what he wishes to convey to his two sons. “Their father makes errors, but I want them to know that I give my all when making decisions for them. I am giving my life to [my sons] to the fullest extent possible.”

Immediately following his breakup with Kylie, Aljur was linked to actress AJ Raval, with whom he co-starred in the 2021 film Nerisa.

AJ was accused of being a third party in the relationship between Aljur and Kylie, which she vehemently rejected. Kylie also exonerated AJ of the charges.

Aljur and AJ confirmed their romance in February 2023.
