The creators of the StartDee online education app, a project spearheaded by former Democrat Party politician Parit “Itim” Wacharasindhu, hope to see it become a “Netflix of education” which provides quality and affordable educational content to Thai students.

In view of this, their dream is to use technology to include an alternate learning tool that could supplement school research. This is stated by Mr. Parit at Saturday’s StartDeee Education Forum 2020.

He said more learning options outside of the school system are controlled by existing tutorial players whose facilities are too costly for most students. “We hope that our service can help raising the educational divide by offering convenient access, reliable content and competitive rates,

The app currently provides material for students in grades 4-12 in seven subjects with a subscription rate of 250-300 baht a month. The cost to Generation Z students is 10-15 times cheaper than other forms of schooling, he added, adding the platform supports immersive technology and gamification to cater to.

In fact, their website currently includes more than 2,000 video clips and 2,500 lessons for consumers to benefit from. The software has already been downloaded over 150,000 times since its launch in mid-May on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

Mr Parit even shared that the company is improving artificial intelligence technologies to increase its user base ever further, and would offer material that suits customer tastes. He added that the company is working with Advanced Info Service Plc, a network operator, to deliver SIM cards, branded as ZEED SIMs, and offer free data for use with the device.

This is something to look forward for everyone in the country.
