Strengthening Global Partnerships from Singapore:
During the summit held by Temasek Trust’s Philanthropy Asia Alliance Bill Gates explained the office location “because the Gates Foundation is putting an office here – to access the science, to partner with the philanthropic community.”
Since 2000 Gates along with his wife Melinda French Gates established the Foundation to address poverty and diseases while working towards inequality reduction. Asia has emerged as a key player in healthcare advancements notably through vaccine manufacturers in both India and Indonesia that supply the most affordable solutions in the world. He emphasized that modern innovations encompass both reduction in costs and advancement of technology.
Through his dialogue with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam Gates talked about Breakthrough Energy as his initiative to drive clean energy and climate solutions. The founder shares strong enthusiasm with the Gates Foundation about Singapore’s capability to collaborate in innovative projects.
An official outlet of the organization will launch in Singapore through partnership with Economic Development Board (EDB). The EDB statement revealed the office demonstrates how the Foundation wants to collaborate with nations and partners to improve lives and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
President Tharman insisted that developing nations require entire staff upskilling for domestic funding sources and efficient financial management. According to him the boost of domestic tax collection levels beyond economic growth needs to happen since this approach works.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed his endorsement by discussing with Bill Gates about vaccine development while posting on his Facebook page about their clean energy discussions. The Foundation can expect support from him regarding their joint efforts to develop innovative solutions for global health benefits.
Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed his support by welcoming the Foundation’s operations while declaring Singapore’s anticipation for developing stronger public health and technology partnerships.
