In 2023, UP will let undergraduates take full classes in person

The University of the Philippines (UP) announced on Thursday, September 29, that beginning in the second semester of the academic year 2022 to 2023, which is expected to begin some time in February 2023, it will permit full face-to-face classes in all of its undergraduate courses. UP made this announcement.

After Senator Pia Cayetano criticized five state institutions and colleges (SUCs), including the University of the Philippines (UP), for not fully implementing face-to-face classes for the current academic year, this new development took place.

On Tuesday, September 27, the senator asked why the University of the Philippines (UP) is still employing blended learning at the hearing on the projected 2023 budget of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and SUCs. She issued a warning to UP that they needed to hold in-person classes in order to protect their budget for the following year.

Cagayan State University, Northern Iloilo State University, South Cotabato State College, and Mindanao State University are some of the other universities in the Philippines that, in addition to UP, have not yet begun offering full-time classes in a traditional classroom setting.
