Mingus Lucien Reedus Arrested in Manhattan: Assault Charges Against Norman Reedus’ Son

Mingus Lucien Reedus, 25, the son of actor Norman Reedus, who stars in the Walking Dead series, was arrested in Manhattan on assault charges against a woman. Reportedly, the crime was an act of violence, as it was accompanied by beatings, including chokeholds and pounding the victim on the ground. Eddus, working in HiGrade Florist, was arrested, and the man is currently charged with assault in the third degree and unlawful obstruction of the respiratory system. The case has received high-profile media coverage because of the family background that Mingus had and the fact that he had previously encountered a similar altercation in 2021.

Details of the Incident

According to authorities, the fight took place early in the morning at the apartment of Reedus on West 16th Street in Chelsea. According to police sources, Reedus is alleged to have beaten a 33-year-old woman and then strangled her and pushed her to the ground, leaving her with a reddened knee.

Shortly after 8:40 a.m. Reedus personally called 911, stating that a woman in his apartment was taking drugs and threatening to kill herself. On arrival, the woman told the officers that Reedus had beaten her. She was subsequently sent to Bellevue Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

A little later in the night (approximately at 11:45 p.m.), the victim was spotted exiting the 10th NYPD Precinct with an unknown man. In response to the questions of reporters, the man repeated, “You have got your story wrong”. The lady in the leather jacket and a pair of large sunglasses told the media that it was all a misunderstanding, but Reedus, indeed, reported the incident to the police.

In the meantime, at about 9.25 a.m. Reedus was taken out of his building by the police, who escorted him out of the premises under guard. Witnesses noted that Reedus looked dishevelled with heavy eyelids.

Reedus’s Previous Legal Troubles

Mingus Lucien Reedus is not new to assault allegations. In March 2022, he pleaded down at the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy. At that moment, a 24-year-old woman claimed that he had hit her in the face during the late-night fight. The incident left the woman hospitalized with an injury under her left eye, and the two were not known to each other before they met.

In that case, Reedus pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, but his lawyer said that he had accepted more responsibility than was strictly required. The episode was especially notorious in that it happened a week after Mingus featured prominently on the cover of Vogue Hommes.

As his second case of assault publicity comes out in a few years, Reedus is still under scrutiny of his reputation. With legal proceedings still ongoing, one still wonders what the verdict on the current charges will be, as well as the long-term prospects of his career and image.
