Heeseung, the lead vocalist of ENHYPEN, announced his departure on March 10, 2026, to focus on a solo career with BELIFT LAB. The K-pop boy band, created by HYBE, will keep going as a six-member group. Fans, called ENGENE, started a Change.org petition named “Allow Heeseung to Pursue Solo Activities Without Leaving ENHYPEN” within hours.
The petition reached over 500,000 signatures by noon on March 11 (Philippine time) and hit 1 million by March 12. It asks BELIFT LAB and HYBE to allow Heeseung to manage his solo albums alongside group responsibilities, keeping the original seven-member dynamic. Social media spread the message worldwide. Instagram shares increased ENHYPEN’s followers by more than 100,000, even with the controversy.
ENGENE argues that Heeseung’s vocals define ENHYPEN’s sound since their debut in 2020. BELIFT says the decision is mutual and supports his artistry, but it does not provide details on timing or contracts. There has been no official response to the petition yet. This silence has led to boycott threats and trends like “Bring Heeseung Back.”
The group looks forward to upcoming releases with six members: Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki. Heeseung remains with BELIFT for his solo work. Will 1M voices influence HYBE? K-pop history shows that petitions rarely change decisions, but this situation tests the strength of fan support.
BELIFT LAB stated it’s a mutual decision for Heeseung to focus on solo music while staying with the agency. No health or contract issues were mentioned.
Not yet HYBE/BELIFT hasn’t responded. It hit 1M signatures fast, but K-pop agencies rarely budge on lineups.
The petition seeks a hybrid model (solo + group). Precedents exist, like BTS solos, but ENHYPEN’s future promotions are now six-member focused.
