The Department of Education (DepEd) offers the World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB) to eligible public school teaching personnel under DepEd Order No. 029, s. 2020. It aims to recognize eligible staff and deliver a standard benefit via the regular government payroll process each year if applicable.

Eligible teachers for the incentive may receive ₱1,000, with distribution beginning October 5 or the next business days, depending upon Schools Division Office (SDO) payroll processing.

Who Qualifies for the WTDIB?

Permanent, provisional, and substitute teachers serving in public elementary, secondary, and senior high schools may be eligible for the WTDIB. Teachers currently on approved vacation, sick, study, maternity, or paternity leave may still qualify if their employment is active.

However, personnel who are AWOL, resigned/terminated on or before September 30, or hired on/after that date do not qualify. Teachers must meet the corresponding eligibility requirements considering their personnel status during the evaluation period.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Teachers who have been found guilty of applicable administrative charges or work-related offenses during the evaluation period may also be disqualified. Contract of Service and Job Order personnel are also excluded from the regular WTDIB due to separate funding or contractual arrangements.

Teachers must ensure that their employment and leave records are accurate and coordinate with school administrative or human resource personnel if needed.

How Is the Incentive Paid?

Teachers generally do not need to submit individual walk-in applications for the WTDIB. School Administrative Officers or designated HR personnel prepare and confirm the list of qualified teaching staff before submitting to the appropriate SDO for validation and payroll processing.

Upon validation, the SDO Personnel and Finance Units will process payment files and release funds. The ₱1,000 benefit is typically credited to the official LandBank or DepEd payroll account via ATM payroll arrangements.

What Should Teachers Check?

In areas or cases wherein direct ATM crediting is unavailable, payment may be processed through the Designated School Disbursing Officers with an authorized cash advance or Advice to Debit Account arrangement. Teachers should follow their school or SDO instructions.

Teachers who have not received the incentive after the announced processing period should first consult with their school administration or SDO. They can inquire if their name was included in the validated payroll and whether any banking or documentation issue caused delays in payment.
