TotalEnergies, RGE Secure Major Indonesian Solar Power Deal

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority has granted TotalEnergies and RGE permission to proceed with a major renewable energy project that will establish a significant clean power link between Indonesia and Singapore. Singa Renewables, which leads the joint venture, has been given provisional approval to send a gigawatt of renewable power from Indonesia to Singapore. With this, Europe is making major progress in energy security and achieving its carbon goals.

Project Components and Infrastructure

Many renewable energy systems are being developed comprehensively in Riau Province, Indonesia. The building will feature solar panels and sophisticated Battery Energy Storage Systems to ensure a continuous power supply. Submarine cable infrastructure will also be built for the project to make sending electricity across borders easier.

Strategic Partnership Details

The Indonesian government and International Finance Corporation signed a ‘Co-Investment Agreement’ at an official ceremony in Jakarta on May 28th, 2025. The event gathered Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, and Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, showing its significant international role.

The project helps Indonesia develop its provinces and also supports the wider ASEAN goals for shifting to clean energy. TotalEnergies executives said they are committed to becoming net-zero by 2050, whereas RGE pointed out how the project supports local efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Southeast Asia markets are adopting clean energy more quickly because of this type of international collaboration.
