Japan’s long-standing auto manufacturer Toyota has now officially partnered with Waymo, a U.S. company in the business of self-driving technologies, to develop and cooperate in the area of self-driving cars. The two aims, among others, is to provide safer driving and transportation that are more accessible for all through applications of advanced driving technologies.
The announcement was not unexpected, as Toyota has been demonstrating its willingness to engage with future mobility designs and self-driving systems. The scheme is expected to allow Toyota to keep ahead in the winning stake of the world market competing for more intelligent and safer vehicles.
From Toyota, executive vice president Hiroki Nakajima was quoted as saying, “Toyota would like to envisage a world with no road accidents, providing mobility for all. We share an aligned purpose with Waymo—safety improvements via automated driving technology.”

Waymo, formerly the Google Self-Driving Car Project, includes in its record the deployment of fully driverless taxi services in San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Austin. It has also partnered with Uber and is developing another area of cooperation.
Toyota is known for its extra cautious attitude towards the introduction of new automotive technologies. Its offerings are always known for their reliability, be it Camry or Lexus and it has constantly been investing in futuristic transportation.
For example, somewhere near Mount Fuji, the company has its own Woven City sort of real-life testing arena for Toyota to test robots, clean energy, and self-driving vehicles.
