UAE becomes global leader in human fraternity and tolerance efforts

“As we celebrate the International Day of Human Fraternity, I would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. With his strong support, the historic Document on Human Fraternity was issued in 2019 in Abu Dhabi and signed by His Holiness Pope Francis And His Eminence Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb. Subsequently, the United Nations recognized this important document by designating the fourth of February as International Human Fraternity Day,” Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, said in his opening remarks at the Abu Dhabi for the Human Fraternity Majlis on Monday.

The event was organized by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, Muslim Council of Elders, Abrahamic Family House, Higher Committee of Human Fraternity; and the World Summit of Nobel Laureates for Peace. World leaders, Nobel Prize laureates, policymakers, youth leaders, and changemakers from 20 countries participated in the event.

Under the directives of Mohamed bin Zayed, the UAE has become a leader globally in humanitarian efforts and the promotion of tolerance and human fraternity.

The UAE has emerged as a leading example globally in fostering human fraternity and tolerance through various initiatives and policies. Through such initiatives, the UAE government actively promotes values of fraternity and tolerance, integrating these principles into its national identity and policies.

A wide range of cultural activities are organized by the UAE government to enhance understanding and cooperation among different communities and faiths. At the same time, the UAE participates with relevant international organizations to promote human fraternity to peaceful coexistence across the world.

Global appreciation for UAE

Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, also recently hailed the UAE’s efforts in supporting and strengthening the values of human fraternity and promoting a culture of tolerance, under the leadership of President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Al Yamahi lauded the UAE for setting a remarkable example in humanitarian work, extending a helping hand to those in need. He added that the UAE’s initiatives to promote peace and tolerance on a global level are a source of pride and appreciation.

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, also praised the UAE for promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and human fraternity while rejecting hate speech, extremism, fanaticism, and discrimination.

Marking the International Day of Human Fraternity, the Secretary-General praised the ‘Document on Human Fraternity’ as it represents a significant milestone in the history of interfaith dialogue in the modern era. Additionally, he urged for intensified efforts to spread the values of goodwill, love, and coexistence.
