What is the reason behind the death of YouTuber Andrew Cross?

Andrew Cross, a well known YouTuber who used the handle ‘Desert Drifter’ died on March 4, 2025, at the age of 36. He died a month after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a severe car accident on January 31. Andrew was put on life support after the accident and his family kept everyone updated on his status through posts on CaringBridge.

On the morning of March 4, Andrew was removed from life support after weeks in critical condition. According to his sister Jenna Spooner’s announcement, his death was peaceful and filled with love. “Andrew’s spirit is free, surrounded by light & love” she posted, noting that Andrew was surrounded by his parents, wife Evelyn and close friends at the end. Before he was taken off life support, Andrew was celebrated by the ICU team, who took him for a walk around the ward on a mobile ventilator.

Andrew’s wife Evelyn was deeply appreciative of the support from fans and the public during this critical period. She also appreciated the donations to a GoFundMe page which raised almost $480,000 to pay for medical bills.

Andrew’s legacy and memory will live on through his family and fans and his story will endure through the countless lives he touched.
