Malaysia Launches Free Medicine Delivery Program Nationwide: How to Register for ‘Ubat Melalui Pos’ Online

From 1st July 2026, all of Malaysia will have access to eligible prescription medication at their own doorsteps at no delivery fees. The federal government has announced today that it will provide the full coverage of the courier fees that will be charged for the Ubat Melalui Pos service, such that people who are eligible for Ubat Melalui Pos will be able to get medicines for free, nationwide.

The funding comes from an interagency RPK (RM5.69mil per annum) this project from the Ministry of Health and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. Aiming to provide access to long-term medications to some 80,000 patients per month, the programme is anticipated to yield positive outcomes in enhancing patient access and alleviating the strain on public healthcare delivery systems.

What is the Ubat Melalui Pos (UMP) Programme?

Ubat Melalui Pos means Medicine by Post, where the eligible patients will be provided prescribed medicines directly at their doorstep via postal service.

It will be available in 394 healthcare facilities and sector government provincewide, starting from July 2026, in hospitals both publicly owned and Klinik Kesihatan. E-commerce deliveries will be made by Pos Malaysia and registration and tracking will be managed through their official MyUBAT mobile application.

Who Is Eligible for Free Medicine Delivery?

The UMP service is available not for all patients and not for all prescriptions. Eligible children will include only those children who are identified as being at risk of a bad reaction if taking the medication are determined by the Ministry of Health.

Patients must have a chronic medical condition, they must be able to have a stable chronic condition, they must understand the treatment prescribed for them and they must be on long-term pieces of medication. As well, the patient must have collected their initial prescription first, and then, the remaining prescriptions will be delivered.

Typically, eligible medications are tablets or capsules that do not need special handling. Prescriptions usually include a treatment plan of more than one month’s duration.

Which Medicines Are Not Eligible?

Some drugs are not included in the national delivery program because of storage and safety issues. These include narcotics and psychotropic medications, controlled substances and medications requiring special shipment or refrigerated conditions insulin and other liquid medications. Persons for whom these medicines are prescribed should continue to pick them up from the healthcare system.

How to Register for Ubat Melalui Pos Online?

The registration process will be done via the MyUBAT app that is available in both Android, iOS and Huawei devices.

Step 1: Download the MyUBAT App

Download the MyUBAT app from the app store of your device. Use private information that is consistent with your healthcare information and documentation.

Step 2: Link Your Healthcare Facility

Choose the Ministry of Health hospital / Klinik Kesihatan where you have an active prescription. This helps the pharmacy to be able to access your prescription history and verify it.

Step 3: Choose the UMP Service

In the app go to the Ubat Melalui Pos (UMP). Please enter the delivery address carefully to get it shipped successfully by POS Malaysia.

Step 4: Prescription Information should be submitted.

Attach necessary prescription forms and requests. Pharmacists will check the eligibility of the patient and the information before approving the arrangements for delivery.

Which Hospitals Are Included?

Currently the free delivery service includes 394 facilities in the Ministry of Health across the country. But there are a few colleges that are not a part of the program.

Nonetheless, excluded are university hospitals like PPUM, HUKM, HUSM, HPUPM, Hospital UiTM, the National Heart Institute (IJN) and military hospitals.
