SINGAPORE – Madam Yap Lay Hong, 102, Singapore’s oldest COVID-19 patient, has been discharged from Tan Tock Seng Hospital on May 1 (Friday).
Madam Yap was 16 residents at an old age home who were tested positive for the virus. A cluster that led the government to ban visitors to all nursing and old age homes last April.
On Friday, Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home posted a Facebook post congratulating the recovered patient welcoming her back to the old folks’ home.
“Today is a day of happiness as we welcome home our residents who fought hard to recover and overcome the Covid-19 virus.”
Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home confirmed that those patients who recovered were discharged from the hospitals and are now resting well at the home.
Lee Ah Mooi administrator said that another patient who is a 96-year-old resident are staying in the hospital but is in stable condition.
Two Lee Ah Mooi residents, however, succumbed to the coronavirus. Yap Lay Hong is among the oldest to survived Covid-19. Cornelia Ras from the Netherlands, a 107-year-old woman, is currently the oldest person to survive the coronavirus.
