History Behind the Bocaue Pagoda Festival
The Bocaue Pagoda Festival has its roots in the centuries-old worship of the Holy Cross of Wawa which locals believe had miraculous powers after it was allegedly found afloat along the river. After that, the feast is enjoyed in a big fluvial procession, which has been visited by Pilgrims from all parts of the Philippines.
The main attraction of the festival includes the pagoda, which stands on top of several barge levels. Dozens of beautifully decorated boats proceed in a procession as people cheer and await the arrival of the Holy Cross while it is carried in a boat of floats bound in colorful banners, flowers, lights and accompanied by brass bands.
