BTS’ fans are discussing the matter of BTS Grammy performance videos being taken off the official Grammy website. The group did not submit their upcoming album, their name-managed ARIRANG, for the Grammy Awards 2022.
Their performances of “Dynamite” (2021) and “Butter” (2022) no longer appeared on the Grammy website for the show either, but nothing had been announced about the trio. This led many to wonder if the removals were related to BTS’ boycott of the award.
Why Did BTS Boycott the 2027 Grammy Awards?
The controversy started in June 2026 due to the introduction of a new category called Best Asian Pop Music Performance by the Recording Academy. The move was intended to celebrate Asian artists, but it brought out the wrath of fans and musicians that it may potentially divide the non-Western acts from similar but competing lesbians and non-fans in the General Field awards like Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
On July 29, 2026, BTS revealed that they will be leaving no of their recent releases for Grammy nominations. The group in a statement shared by RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook wrote that they wish their songs would “be enjoyed for what they are, not by the region or language boundaries.
Why Were the Grammy Performance Videos Removed?
It wasn’t removed from the concert for quite a while, with many fans speculating it was directly related to the boycott announcement, which came a few days prior. It remains unclear, however, whether the video has been deleted due to BTS’ decision as it has not received the official authorization from the Recording Academy.
Awards shows are not only limited to getting limited rights for broadcasting performances, but also typically get the rights for digital distribution. While the videos will remain accessible elsewhere, the site may be forced to remove or block videos in the archive because of expired licenses or synchronization rights.
Are the Performances Still Available?
Yes. But, the embedded videos on Grammy will now show missing videos or error pages, and the BTS performances haven’t gone entirely.
“The full performances of both “Dynamite” and “Butter”, are still able to be streamed through BTS’s official YouTube channel, HYBE Labels‘ digital platforms, as well as other licensed broadcasting partners.” Also, several news articles, interviews and photo galleries about BTS are still available on the Grammys website, with only certain video components being impacted.

What We Know So Far?
Right now, we do know two things; BTS decided against attending the 69th Grammy Awards, and their performance video for the Grammy Awards is no longer available on Grammy. So far, all that is known is whether it has been by chance or always will.
Meanwhile, the best explanation for the videos’ removal is for routine content archiving and licensing expiration until the Recording Academy makes a more explicit statement on the matter.
