Six people, including a 17-year-old woman and her 6-month-old child, were slain in a shooting at a residence in central California early on Monday (Jan. 16), according to sheriff’s officials. At least two suspects are being sought.
According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at 3:30 a.m. to reports of numerous shots fired at a house in unincorporated Goshen, just east of Visalia.
Sheriff Mike Boudreaux informed reporters that based on the quantity of rounds being fired, it was reported that an active shooter was in the neighborhood.
Boudreaux stated that deputies discovered two deceased victims in the street and a third victim fatally shot in the residence’s entryway.
He stated that three additional victims were discovered inside the residence, including a guy who was still alive but subsequently died in the hospital.
Investigators are hunting for at least two suspects, according to the sheriff. They suspect there is a connection between the murders and a gang. Last week, the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant for drugs at the house, according to Boudreaux.
“We also feel that this was not an act of random brutality. We feel this family was a target,” he added.
The adolescent mother and her little kid were both shot in the head, according to the sheriff.
