Cardinal Tagle recovers from Covid-19

METRO MANILA – Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has recovered from the coronavirus disease COVID-19, the Pontificio Collegio Filippino announced on Wednesday.

The recovery was announced almost 2 weeks after  the cardinal contracted the virus. He was assymptomatic and went on a self-quarantine.

According to Fr. Gregory Gaston, PCF Rector, The Tagle’s brings great joy for the whole church. He said that God wants him to continue serving in Vatican to bring the good news of God’s love, joy, peace, justice, forgiveness and reconciliation.

He added that the Pontificio Collegio Filippino has witnessed the cardinal’s hard work, dedication and prayers and wished him all the best with his family back home.

Tagle, tested positive from the coronavirus upon his arrival in Manila last September. He was tested negative before he left Rome last sept 7.

Over 30 priests and staff at PCF, where Tagle stayed went into self-isolation. The all tested negative for the Covid-19 swab test. There are four bishops currently infected with Covid-19 in the country of which two passed away: retired Bishop Manuel Sobreviñas of Imus and retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz of Lingayen-Dagupan, while Bishop Broderick Pabillo of Manila and retired Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez have fully recovered.
