Trump and Xi are expected to discuss economic stability, artificial intelligence, the critical minerals and international security at the summit, which extends through Sept. 25. US-China Trade Truce Extended

The implications of the U.S.-China relationship, in terms of electronics manufacturers and automakers, will be important in affecting supply-chain planning for Asian manufacturers. A longer period of reduced tariff uncertainty may also help to add some certainty to international businesses.
What Does the Summit Mean for Global Relations?
The Washington meeting doesn’t reduce, but does not resolve either the underlying trade or technology differences between Washington and Beijing, or the underlying disagreements over Taiwan and other strategic matters. It instead focuses on keeping communication open, rather than worrying about increased economic and geopolitical rivalry from decades to come.
The peak is thus the engagement and competition going along. Whether it becomes a precedent for future, more long-term trade, technology and crisis-communication agreements will depend on how much significance it has.
