A fresh surge of Covid-19 has been witnessed in India with the active cases recorded as 2710 as of 30 May 2025. This recent rise is actively driven by new Omicron sub variants, especially the NB1.8.1 and LF.7, which are reported to be more transmissible with mild symptoms. There have been 22 Covid cases recorded as dead since the beginning of the year 2025, in which seven died in the last 24 hours. But most of them were patients with existing health issues.
“Both our Central Health Department and the Ayush Ministry are fully alert and closely monitoring the citation across all states. We have spoken with the respective Health and Ayush Secretaries, as well as other concerned ministers” – said Union Minister of State of Health AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav.
Kerala leads with the 1147 active cases who are followed by the densely populated state Maharashtra with 424 cases and Delhi holds the third position where the recent report unveils that a 60 year old woman with intestinal issues has been affected by Covid. The numbers are rising in the following states of India which includes Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, and West Bengal.

Though the surge isn’t observed to be fatal, the health authorities are instructing the public to stay alert with no panic. They are enforcing the public to wear masks in gatherings, maintain hygiene and social distance.
