Tesla Inc, an American multinational automotive and clean energy company owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk, aims to become a player in supercomputing.
The world’s richest person has said that his electric carmaker company plans to invest over $1 billion on its ‘Project Dojo’ by the end of next year. He revealed that Tesla had been designing an in-house supercomputer to handle massive amounts of data, including video from Tesla cars that was needed to create autonomous driving software. Tesla has already started production of the ‘Dojo training computer’.
During a press conference, Tesla CEO said, “We will be spending well over US$1 billion on Dojo over the next year.”
Reportedly, the Dojo supercomputer can process huge amounts of data, including videos from Tesla cars to develop software for self-driving cars. Tesla has started production of its “Dojo training computer.”
Musk has also revealed that Tesla is likely to continue to cut the prices of its electric vehicles if interest rates continue to rise. Tesla’s strategy of slashing prices of vehicles has reportedly increased sales.
Tesla reportedly earned $3.1 billion in net income on $24.9 billion in revenue. This year, Tesla Model Y became the world’s best-selling electric vehicle. Musk said, “This is, I think, an incredible achievement by the Tesla team and just a huge thank you to our customers for their support. This came in spite of high interest rates, and a lot of macro uncertainty.”
Musk has been in the spotlight in recent days. Recently, Musk launched his new artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, which will be able to “understand the universe.” He said that he would build a safe and “maximally curious” AI. He said that xAI would also work with Tesla on AI software.
