Samsung seems ready to disrupt the foldable market again with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Recent leaks suggest this device could launch in July 2026 alongside other foldables, targeting Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone Fold.
One of the biggest changes is the new wider design. Unlike the tall and narrow foldables we’ve seen before, this one is expected to use a 4:3 aspect ratio. That means a more tablet-like experience, which is better for watching videos, multitasking, reading, and even gaming. The inner display is rumored to be a large 8.2-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and bright visuals. On the outside, a 6.56-inch cover screen should make everyday use easy without unfolding the phone. Samsung is also working on reducing the crease and improving durability, with an expected IP48 rating.
The phone is likely powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It comes with 12GB of RAM and fast UFS 4.0 storage. This setup means you can expect smooth performance while gaming, editing, or multitasking. The camera setup is another feature to note. Leaks indicate a 200MP main sensor along with ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. In contrast to Apple’s expected 48MP setup, Samsung seems intent on pushing camera specs further. For the battery, a 4800mAh unit with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging should last a full day for most users.
When compared to the upcoming iPhone Fold, Samsung appears to have a few strong advantages:
That said, Apple will still have its strong ecosystem and loyal user base. But if these leaks turn out to be true, Samsung could gain a solid edge, especially in markets like Asia.
