Do not throw away your chance, theater enthusiasts, for “Hamilton” is coming to Manila in September 2023.

“Hamilton” is a sung-and-rapped musical based on the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, namely during America’s revolution against the British; the musical’s author, Lin-Manuel Miranda, dubbed it “America then, as told by America now.”

After teasing fans in a video in which he stated “Kamusta Philippines?” and “What’s up, man par?”, Miranda confirmed that “Hamilton” would launch its first-ever Asian tour in the Philippines.

“Kamusta Pilipinas! This is Lin-Manuel Miranda, and I am thrilled to announce that the Asian premiere of ‘Hamilton’ will take place in the Philippines,” Miranda stated in a video announcement.

Miranda acknowledged that a number of Filipinos have participated in “Hamilton pamilya” productions around the world, with Marc dela Cruz, Karla Puno Garcia, and Christina Glur on Broadway and Rachelle Anne Go and Christine Allado in London’s West End being the most prominent.

Miranda said, “Now we get to bring the performance to your lovely country very soon. I cannot wait until you see it.”

The award-winning artist urged Filipinos to wait in the coming days for ticket announcements and the touring cast, with the musical itself to be performed at The Theater at Solaire.

Miranda concluded the announcement videos with Filipino greetings such as “Tara!” and “Mahal kita!” before blowing a kiss to the camera.

The Broadway run of the show broke the record for the most Tony Award nominations with 16, winning 11 including Best Musical — the second-most wins in the history of the Tony Awards.

In addition to the West End, “Hamilton” has had runs in Chicago, Los Angeles, Hamburg (the first non-English translation), and most recently Toronto in 2023, as well as three separate national tours.
