We are in 2026 and now bringing up an added thing tourists cannot stop about doing prior to heading to Bali: obligatory “Love Bali” tourist tax confirmation. The tourism levy, which was briefly introduced in 2024, has been expanded to Airport Gate Check in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar.
Official Love Bali QR code will be required for international travelers in Bali as soon as they cross customs as of May 2022. Anyone coming without a QR code ready to go will be subjected to lengthy queues at the airport, extra queues, and manual payment methods.
If you are meant for a Bali trip this year, here is all you need to know before arriving in Bali.
Love Bali itself is a compulsory tourist tax that has been implemented by the Government of Bali as part of Tourism policies for the protection of the environment, preservation of cultural heritage and implementation of tourism policies in accordance with tourism sustainability in Boyolali province in Bali.
The entry charge is IDR150,000 per entry or about USD10. Although it has a relatively low charge, its enforcement has stepped up significantly in 2026, thanks to the growing number of tourists in Bali.
Bali police are now implementing automated scanning systems and specially-trained counters at Denpasar airport.
The Love Bali QR code in 2026 is a success in the process of airport arrival.
Upon arrival at Denpasar Airport, people will be directed to the immigration area and then to the tourist tax verification areas before heading towards the baggage claim or airport exit. Employees at the airport and the automatic scanners verify if visitors have previously paid the levy online.
Guests who do not present the QR code go to queuing areas for cash payments and can be quite large during rush periods of tourist arrival. Some of the travelers say they experience delays as long as over an hour.
Travelers without a functional international bank or credit cards can also incur trouble at payment booths, which are cashless at airports.
Each visitor has to fill out this official Love Bali website with their personal information, which exactly matches what is written on their passport. Once the visitor enters his/her passport details, nationality and arrival information, it would ask him/her to pay the IDR 150,000 charge using major payment cards or QR payment system.
Upon payment, the system creates a digital QR (Quick Response) voucher. Persons who are traveling are strongly recommended to keep their screenshots in a saved document on their device as there can be challenging airport internet services.
Preparing the QR code 24 hours ahead of time is now believed to be a key step to getting a seamless airport entry.
Visitors who are not able to provide proof of payment are no longer merely reminded to pay later.
The airport is directly verifying the visitors before they leave the terminal. Travelers who don’t have the QR code are directed to special manual payment counters, and should finish the process immediately before departing.
There are also reportedly more random spot checks at often-visited tourist locations, including Uluwatu, Tanah Lot and transfer hubs in Bintan, Riau Islands or Jakarta/Bogor and Surabaya.
It is important to know for those who intend to make more than one trip into Bali during the same visit that the tax as such and the voucher may have to be paid once more after arrival in Bali from neighboring areas such as Java, Lombok, and the like.

Each tourist does not need to pay the levy. Except for foreigners residing with long-term visas including family unification and student visas, diplomatic visa holders and flight crew members are exempted.
Yet, exempt travelers are still able to be requested to provide their visa or residency proof in airport checks of verification. As you gear up for your holiday to Bali for 2026, here are some tips to help you make the most of your trip.
The best solution to not create unneeded stress ahead of flying is to finish the process prior to the flight.
Please make sure that travelers have a digital (and printed) copy of their QR voucher which they keep on hand especially when traveling as family groups. Group registrations are now available and multiple travelers can be processed in a single registration.
The following are the important things visitors must keep in their minds while travelling: first, they should make sure that their traveling and registration information do not differ in any way concerning names of the passports they have in them.
Yes. The Bali tourist tax, also known as the tourist administration tax, has been required for most foreign tourists to be paid when they enter the island as of 2026.
Price IDR 150 000 per person or USD 10 per person.
The registration and payment of the travelers can be made via the official Love Bali portal before being in Bali.
