Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today declared that both elected government officials will report their properties within three months of the day they were sworn-in.

Muhyiddin, who chaired the Anti-Corruption Special Cabinet Committee (JKKMAR) by way of video conferencing earlier today, said the government would continue its attempts to strengthen governance and dignity by adopting the 2019-2023 National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

It is to ensure that the aim of developing people ‘s economy and health can be accomplished in a straightforward and efficient manner.

JKKMAR was also told, according to Muhyiddin, of the current situation about wealth disclosures produced by elected officials and administrative employees, as set out in the Code of Ethics for Administrative Personnel.

Muhyiddin also stated during the meeting that it was unanimously agreed that policy measures taken at previous JKKMAR meetings should be continued, including improving the transparency and dignity of parliamentary members by wealth declarations.

He also said that JKKMAR decided in principle on the Malaysia Productivity Corporation’s plan for all ministries and agencies responsible for granting permits and licensing to disclose their electronic instructions for public viewing licensing applications.

It is aimed at establishing a more open system in the cycle of handling licenses and permits, enhancing transparency and preventing bribes.

Among other issues, the meeting also decided in principle to undertake a thorough report to further strengthen conformity with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Report and the Report on the Ethics of the Enforcement Agency.

Finally, the meeting also agreed in accordance with Information Protection Malaysia ‘s recommendation for a report to be carried out to gather scientific data on the need for a digital anti-corruption strategy and to define specific legal criteria.
