New list of Malaysian exempted from paying Covid-19 quarantine released

PETALING JAYA – The Health Ministry released an updated list of returning Malaysian who would not need to pay for their Covid-19 quarantine if they pass the following criterias such as being from the b40 income bracket.

A total of seven categories has been published yesterday wherein returning individuals may be exempted from paying fees on their compulsary quarantine at a government authorized quarantine facilities..

Categories includes Malaysian belonging from the B40 group, those with disability cards issued under Persons with Disabilities Act 2008, students from household in the B40, children aged six and below as well as aged 12 and below who were returing alone.

Malaysian who are parents to, spouse of another in the b40 were also exempted provided there are returning together.

The last category are those Malaysians who were released from prison overseas who will be unable to pay for the expenses because of them having no source of income.

Malaysians belonging to B40 will be determined by the Finance Minister.

The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (No. 2) Regulations 2020 were made by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba. It will replace the set of regulations being implemented previously. On the other note, those who are not exempted but failed to pay for the quarantine fees is punishable upon conviction with maximum of RM 1,000 or maximum 6 months imprisonment or both.
