PUTRAJAYA – Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today that Malaysia has not had Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals have experienced re-infection of the disease.

On his daily Covid-19 press conference, he said that of the total of 4,032 patients were discharged from the hospital since the disease were first identified.

“So far, no reinfection. We do have maybe residual (traces) during the virus shedding period. Five cases we were able to identify is virus shedding, ” Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

According to Noor Hisham, During the virus sheeding, former Covid-19 patients are no longer infectious.

The Health director-general assured the public that the government are currently monitoring all recovered patients and anticipating a possible relapse of the virus. He also reported that the Health Ministry is conducting the study and that trials on the medicine, Tocilizumab to treat Covid-19 patients are ongoing.
