METRO MANILA – Public transportation and domestic flights resume today after Metro Manila has been shifted to general community quarantine or GCQ status.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Public trains and operators from various public utility vehicles such as taxis, buses, and modern and traditional public utility jeepneys (PUJs) and UV express will resume operations to ferry the commuters.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said that over 63,000 public utility vehicles are expected to ply along Metro Manila roads.
The MRT-3 line are also expected to operate on limited capacity by dispatching 18 train sets including the Dalian coaches that was ordered from China.
LRT-1 line will dispatch 24 train sets during peak hours and 18 train set during off-peak.
LRT-2 is also expected to deploy five train sets while the Philippine National Railways will operate ten train sets daily.
The limited capacity on trains were due to the physical distancing measure being implemented by the government. LTFRB has authorized operations of additional PUJs and UV Express to decongest the traffic on commuters using the train system.
Four additional routes with 641 units of UV Express has also given a go signal by the agency bringing the total units to 1,621 and 51 routes. Domestic flights will also resume today of services to and from Metro Manila. Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific are expected to resume the local flights today on top of the limited international flight being offered as of the moment.
