Sony Pictures acquires ‘Legends of The Condor Heroes: The Gallants’ for global release

Starring Xiao Zhan and Zhuang Dafei, ‘Legends of The Condor Heroes: The Gallants’ is set for release in Mainland China cinemas on January 29. Sony Pictures International Productions (SPIP) has acquired international rights to the martial arts film.

This Chinese-language film is releasing on January 29 in Hong Kong, on February 20 in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, on February 21 in the US, and on February 26 in Indonesia. Tsui Hark, a Hong Kong filmmaker, is playing a big role in the project.

Legends of The Condor Heroes: The Gallants‘ is adapted from the novel of the same name by the late Louis Cha. His ‘The Legend of The Condor Heroes’ series has sold more than 300 million copies across the globe.

Set in China’s Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the upcoming film focuses on the story of Guo Jing. The protagonist is going to become a martial arts master and a national hero. The film shines light on the unique charm of Chinese martial arts.
