Each letter typed needs to be exactly the same as the one you have in your travel documents – any typographical error or a different number is enough to cause a system error at the automated biometric scanners, sending you to long manual review queues.
Once the integrated customs and security, and health question sets are successfully completed, they automatically create an exclusive entry barcode. This confirmation email is sent directly to your specified email address.
Make sure you have a photo of the image on your local camera roll on your mobile phone, or bring a hard copy of the image with you in your passport sleeve, so that if your airport Wi-Fi connection isn’t stable or your phone battery is low when you arrive, you’re covered.
It is important to note that this is an administrative obligation and is not a substitute for immigration visas or visa entry. Instead, it provides a complementary role to border safety systems and contributes to national security.
One of the most common mistakes tourists make when traveling is assuming that the entry barcode is a valid travel visa. This e-submission is for administrative tracking only. Access rights still apply and must be in place for crossing the line legally.
Eligible holidaymakers can simplify their entry process by arranging their travel documents in advance through the official Thai Immigration Bureau system, or by contacting the Thai Immigration Bureau or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to verify their visa status. Once an e-visa or visa exemption is issued and your electronic passport (e-Pass) is ready, the new automated gates allow you to access the system in less than a minute of total processing time.
