The Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City’s New Launch to Encourage Public Transportation
The Lunar New Year is a traditional festival followed in many countries every year to welcome the first new moon. In Taiwan this celebration has been introduced by Chinese immigrants many years ago, which observes togetherness with our loved ones in a new year.
On Friday, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City launched a TPASS monthly pass for the public from January 17, 2025 and it will be active till February 16, 2025. This is to encourage the usage of public transport by the people during the new year because a larger population will travel from one city to their native city during this time. The users of this newly launched monthly pass can get a cash discount of NT$5 to NT$10/ will receive a gift, if they spend some designated amount at the Sanfeng Middle Street Partner merchants.
To receive the new year goods the people can take the routes including 60 Juemin Route, 88 Jianguo route, 205 Zhonghua route, and 218 Neiwei route, because the Sanfeng Middle Street is the popular place where people do their shopping for new year fest predominantly.
“Take the bus in the Year of the Snake and do New Year shopping” stated in the announcement of the Transportation Bureau.
