UAE leads progress with transformative efforts in 2024

By virtue of a number of strong initiatives and strategic programs designed for reinforcing its global reputation, the UAE has been capable of boosting its soft power and becoming an unchallenged leader in all industries, fostering the progress and development as well as the culture in 2024. To predict emerging challenges and set a clean roadmap for long-term sustainable governance, the UAE executed forward-thinking programs and policies in this year.

The government initiated a historic nationwide project called “Unified UAE Numbers,” which aims to enhance the nation’s statistical system and help it continuously advance in the economic, demographic, social, and environmental fields. This cooperation between federal and local government organizations aims to make the United Arab Emirates a global leader in using statistics and data to make well informed decisions.

In order to emphasize and expand the role of young government leaders throughout the nation, the UAE also introduced the “Young Government Leaders Programme 2024” during the UAE Government’s Annual Meetings in 2024. The United Arab Emirates has published the “National Investment Strategy 2031” with the goal of doubling the total amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) between 2025 and 2031. This would raise FDI’s contribution in the national economy from the current 15% to 30%. By 2031, the plan seeks to quadruple the total FDI balance to AED2.2 trillion and increase the FDI stock to AED1.3 trillion.

The United Arab Emirates launched the “Plant the Emirates” program in the agricultural sector which includes a number of projects aimed at promoting agricultural growth and improving sustainable national food security.

The UAE introduced the “Work Bundle” as part of the “Zero Government Bureaucracy Program” to streamline work permits and employee residency procedures for private sector businesses. The program which was first introduced in Dubai will spread across the country and save 62 million workdays a year by cutting down on bureaucratic processes, removing needless trips to government offices and lowering business operating expenses.

The National Anti-Drugs Strategy (2024-2031), a comprehensive strategy that includes a number of programs aimed at achieving a drug free United Arab Emirates by 2031 and was authorized by the Cabinet.

Additionally, the National Youth Agenda 2031 was approved with the goals of ensuring full employment opportunities for young people, developing strategic partnerships in science and technology and preparing at least 100 Emirati youth to represent the nation in international organizations and forums pertaining to national priorities.

The Cabinet also unveiled the “Blue Residency,” the first permanent residence for people who have made outstanding contributions to sustainability and environmental action both inside and outside the United Arab Emirates. In a major step, the Cabinet made it a priority to hire people with at least three years of private sector experience for federal government jobs integrating this preference into federal hiring procedures.

The United Arab Emirates promised to continue in fighting money-laundering schemes through publishing its National Strategy 2024-2027 countering money laundering and funding terrorism. The country also implemented a high-level science and technology policy that gives priority to important fields like manufacturing, water resources, food security, cybersecurity, energy transition, and health. Lastly, to promote graduates to venture into business, the UAE established the “Riyada” fund, which has allocated AED 300 million in incentives.
