US Vice President Kamala Harris meets Xi at APEC

According to an official from the White House, US Vice President Kamala Harris spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping for a short amount of time on Saturday, November 19.

“The Vice President noted a key message that President [Joe] Biden emphasized in his meeting with President Xi on November 14: we must maintain open lines of communication in order to responsibly manage the competition between our countries,” the official said. “The message is that we must maintain open lines of communication in order to responsibly manage the competition between our countries.”

In the later part of the morning, the Chinese state television CCTV announced that the meeting had taken place.

According to the official readout of the meeting that was provided by the broadcaster, Xi Jinping stated that the meeting he held with President Biden in Bali, Indonesia, was strategic and constructive, and that it had vital guiding significance for the next stage of China-US relations.
